Let’s give a big welcome to this weeks Inside Tips From The Pro’s guest contributor, Laura Lawrence! Thank you Laura, for giving us a peek into another professional organizer’s home…

Are you looking for more space for storage in your home? Don’t forget to consider every corner, every door, and every wall!

This odd behind-the-door corner provides storage for 4 different utility-type items without being in the way of anything or being unsightly! From the left:

1. Using over-the-door hooks, aprons are in easy reach!

2. Battery testing and storage unit keeps all the battery sizes organized and provides easy access for testing.

3. Hanging mail pouch unit provides a spot for mail and “in-process” papers for each family member–including those who no longer live at home but seem to keep getting occasional mail!

4. The iron and ironing board–easy to grab and easy to put away.

This corner is inside the entryway/laundry/mud room. It uses a space that otherwise would be basically wasted!

Take a look around to see if there isn’t a corner, door or some vertical space in your home or office that would give just that little nook you need!

—————————————————————————————————————————————–

Let’s give a big welcome to this weeks Inside Tips From The Pro’s guest contributor, Laura from I’m an Organizing Junkie! Thank you Laura, for giving us a peek into a professional organizer’s home…

Organizing to me is all about finding simple solutions to annoying problems to make your everyday life a little bit easier. It’s about taking things that aggravate you and finding a better, easier, smarter solution for them, eliminating your stress and chaos in the process.

Take my keys for instance. I hated losing my keys and hated the time I wasted looking for them. So terribly annoying! Thankfully carabiner clips eliminated this annoyance entirely for me and I can honestly say that I never lose my keys anymore. What did that peace of mind cost me? A mere $1.00 from the Dollar Store!

I keep one on each of my key rings making it easy to attach my keys, when not in use, to my purse or wallet.

Attached to my purse/diaper bag (the strap has a handy ring on it that makes it easy to clip to):

and when I’m not with my little guy and I just have my wallet with me I just simply attach it to the wallet string.

This way before I even get out of the van I clip my keys onto my purse. I never have to wonder what I did with them. They are always there. So easy! Sometimes when I venture out without my purse or bag I can just be wild and crazy and clip my keys to my belt loop. It’s ever so attractive but hey at least I know where my keys are :) I also keep my vehicle and house keys separate because if I ever forget anything in the house I don’t have to turn my van off in order to run back in and get it. , who knew something so simple could provide so much sanity and order.

—————————————————————————————————————————————–

Laura is an addict of all things organizing especially containers. She is addicted to the high that comes with living a life of order and simplicity and is always looking for her next “fix”. You can find her blogging regularly and sharing her passion over at I’m an Organizing Junkie.

Let’s give a big welcome to this weeks Inside Tips From The Pro’s guest contributor, Krista Colvin! Thank you Krista, for giving us a peek into a professional organizer’s home…

It happens almost every time I introduce myself as a professional organizer. “OH (they say), your house must be SO perfect, SO organized!”. I clear my throat and reassure them I’m not so perfect… in fact I was much more perfect before I had a husband, kids, and my own business.

I’m not quite the cobbler’s-kids-don’t-have-any-shoes kind of gal, but none the less, things can get a little messy around here. Proof is in the pudding, or the before + after pics below.

Here’s a look into THE messiest + MOST used area of my home. This is the laundry room/mud room which serves as the entrance into our home via the garage. This is where we enter + leave every day, all day. This is where mass laundry gets done. This is where mama dumps her handbag, keys, and coffee. This is THE first place the stuff goes when entering our abode. Consider it the Ellis Island of the Colvin household.

THIS my chica-ritas wasn’t an organizing project- but merely a pick up clean up put your crap away kind of project! I’ll show you the inside of the cupboards another time-promise.

So how does an organizer justify such a mess. Same way you do chica… I’m busy living life, putting off the put away, coming + going, living the dream. I profess that it drives me bonkers to see ‘the stuff’, to know that it needs to be done.

So today was the moment that I tackled this project (again). Yes, it will happen all over again- so what. I’m learning to say ‘so what’. It’s ok. I’d rather live with all the “mess contributors” than to live without them. Bring on those shoes, random objects from the town festival, and piles of clean + dirty clothes- I can take it *she says with a smirk + cup of joe in her hands*.

before- all messy after the pick up clean up

Every professional organizer needs access to her office supplies! We have deep cabinets and more office supplies than Office Depot!
I love a good label, and I absolutely fell in love with these hanging labels. We have this shelving system behind our sofa with movies, games and books. We love to play games and watch movies as a family, and these baskets keep them close at hand and easily accessible. So, when the mood strikes, we are ready to have a good time!
