Don’t forget if you store your disks, ext hard drive (backups), flash drives, etc in a fireproof box that you buy the correct one. Some are only rated for paper documents and such and your “electronic backups” will melt. You’ll need to instead buy one rated for disks and such. You should look for at least a UL125 (meaning the internal temperature doesn’t rise above 125 degrees F) and see that is passed the UL test…. NOT just “UL tested”. Otherwise you’ll be sorely disappointed as your “memories” will melt and also ruin whatever paper documents you have in their also.

I loved this post! Last year I started carrying my camera around wherever I go. I’ve wound up with so many unexpected (but great) photos! I store them on an external hard drive and back that up every few weeks to a 2nd hard drive. And I love Picasa and Flickr for sharing web albums. :)
