Organizing The Kid’s Cups With Labels

by Tanna Clark

in Kid Solutions, Kitchen and Dining, Label It

So, here it is my very first vlog (video blog)! Last night I realized how many cups that my kids had used during the day and decided to do something about it. I actually tried doing this with a Sharpie in the past but it would wash off. The Mabel’s Labels worked! So far today only three cups for three kids have been used!

Let me know what you think about the vlog… is this something you would want to see more of in the New Year or just me writing? :) What topics would you like to see more vlogs of?

*The labels from Mabel’s Labels were given to me as part of my paid relationship in blogging for the Mabelhood.

You are a natural at video! You did great! You didn’t even look very nervous. Love the nail polish too. :)

Those labels are good stuff! Wow – stayed on nice through the dishwasher. I read about a mom that had a unique place setting for each child – one of everything. The child was then responsible for their own dishes. Eat and wash their own. Haven’t done that yet, but am tempted.

I can’t see videos at work (where I check up on my blogs throughout the day) but the idea sounds really good!

Yes I know that is a problem for a lot of people, not being able to watch the video’s at work. Hubby can’t either. I’ve considered that so I guess if I at least explain a little besides the video that should be ok. I still want to be able to get my point across! :)

Love this Tanna! I think our fans will too, so I’m going to put a link to it on our Facebook fan page. Do they have clothing labels for summer camp too? If you Vlog about that, please let me know! carol@cozi.com

They have labels for just about anything kid related and beyond! Spices cords and custom bin labels! That would make some great vlog ideas!

Sorry, I hate video online. Be it a vlog or a video news report, I very rarely click on to see it. For some reason I find it more invasive. I can skim or read a blog or news article, spending the amount of time on it I want. Videos make me feel “trapped” and that annoys me. So it’s nothing to do with YOURS, I’ll just treat it like I do other sites, and not watch it. Since you asked, I thought I’d let you know! :) I do like the idea of labeling cups, I’m realizing we go through a lot, but I hate seeing cups sit out on the table or counter.

Tina, thanks for the honesty. I guess for me it really just depends on what the topic is whether I watch or not. Then I’m usually actively seeking the information out.
I hate seeing cups out on the counter too but with three kids capable of getting their own drinks it seems like I always find a cup on the counter. I decided not to fight it. At least when the day is over there is less to clean.

I love the vlog format. Keep them coming for sure! It makes it so personal, we feel like we really can get to know you. I’ve been considering adding some video to my site and you’ve totally inspired me.

I’m always fascinated by people’s work spaces, especially home offices/workspaces. I’d love to see yours, if that’s not too nosy.

While videos are neat & sometimes the piont can be gotten across better, I prefer the written word. That way I can leave & pick back up reading when I return.

That & most of my internet stuff is at work so video can be distracting and I could forget the details by the time I get home, get the kids in bed and want to try the idea.
If it’s written then I can print it out or copy the text into an appointment on my Ipod (I know weird but if I schedule the task it’s more likely to get done or at least rescheduled to a later time rather then completely forgotten).

I subscribed to your site about 2 months ago & I really like the ideas… it’s hard to know how to organize when no one in your family is. So your site has really helped figure some things out and make my day less of a hassle. Now if I can just get my kids on the same track…..

have a Merry Christmas, joyous holiday season & happy New Year

Sam thanks for reading! You make some very valid points and if I do future vlogs I will most likely include some kind of write up about the tip but perhaps a condensed version. It makes me wonder though if putting in the extra effort of vlogging would be worth it in the long run if I am just writing about it as well. I suppose it depends on the situation. I think for this post it was good to see that the labels could actually withstand the dishwasher. Otherwise you would just be taking my word for it. I try to be as transparent as I can here and make sure I gain the trust of my readers.

I’m glad you are liking the ideas, I understand the battle you are up against! We definitely have to choose our battles with the kids and you might have to try a few different ways to get them excited about organizing before it really catches on. ;)

Great idea, I’m totally stealing this! I may do this for the much-fought-over water cups in the bathroom too.

To me it seems definitely a situational thing. Some stuff is better written & somethings are better paired with a video.

Last summer I was trying to make a canned food rack (that helps rotate the oldest food out first). I had three sets of written directions and it kept falling apart. Found a You-tube video showing someone making one & I discovered a trick the written directions left out. Viola!
