Let’s give a big welcome to this weeks Inside Tips From The Pro’s guest contributor, Kathy Jenkins! Make sure you join in every Wednesday right here for another peek into a professional organizer’s home…

The best way to avoid science experiments in the fridge or freezer is to mark your food. I keep a roll of masking tape and a sharpie in the kitchen. Whenever I have left over’s I put a small piece of tape on the lid and mark it with the date. Same goes for food bought in bulk and then frozen. Mark the container with what is inside and the date. I do this when I open food containers as well. No more guessing when the mayonnaise or cheese in a bag was opened. The few seconds it takes to mark your food will be worth it when you consider the alternative (the sniff test).

I totally used to be so good at this! What happened? Thanks for the reminder. :)
Masking tape. I knew there had to be a better way of marking stuff than store-bought labels !
Thanks !
I completely agree!! I have a roll of masking tape and a sharpie in our kitchen too. I’m still trying to get my husband to remember…but we’re getting there! :)
After every meal we always have just enough left over for Hubby’s lunch the next day so we hardly ever have the “leftover for too long” problem but I know a lot of people that should be doing this! :) Thanks for stopping by!
