I Am The Proud Mama Of A Dyson – Yes I’m Talking About A Vacuum Cleaner

It was high time for a new vacuum cleaner and we did the research over and over and over. We kept ending up at the Dyson. Since getting a dog we had a whole new issue to deal with – FUR. So we decided to go with the Dyson DC-17 Animal. It sounds like I am talking about an airplane here but no it’s a vacuum that is specifically for people with animals. Dyson should design one called the DC-3 Messy Kids!

This post was ultimately my deciding factor. The author vacuumed his house thoroughly with an Oreck, then the Dyson. The things that were pulled up after the second vacuuming was astonishing. I was sold and at the same time totally scared to see what might be lying in our carpets.

After we decided on the Dyson we kept putting it off because of the price. I kept saying “But it costs so much!” This is truly one of the parts I hate most about being an adult. Buying things that cost umpteen hundred dollars just to be able to suck up dirt. I could have thought of plenty of things to do with umpteen hundred dollars.

Then enters, Black Friday. My dearest Hubby woke up super early on Black Friday and braved the lines to purchase our brand new DYSON! Yes, I am the proud owner of a Dyson. And I am sooooo excited!

I vacuumed the downstairs the morning of Thanksgiving before our guests arrived. So the carpet had been “vacuumed” with the Hoover. Friday morning approximately 24 hours after vacuuming already,  I vacuumed our master bedroom again. I figured this was the least used room during Thanksgiving so it would be a good room to test the vacuum out on.

I am so sorry that you’re having to get all up close and personal with my dirt but seriously folks is that nasty or what? All this junk only 24 hours after the last vacuuming. Either we shed hair and skin and sand and dirt really fast or this Dyson Rocks! I am elated and grossed out all at the same time. This thing is picking up the fine particles I can’t see or feel!

A couple of the other features this Dyson has that I love is the extension handle and mini vacuum attachment to do the stairs and the super long cord. We have rather large rooms and I always had to unplug my old vacuum to get to the other sides of the rooms. No more! I can do a room and half the hallway on this cord. I haven’t used it thoroughly yet so I can’t report on all the features and I am not about to tackle explaining the “cyclone” technology. You can read up on that at your leisure. Whatever they did to create this beast they did right. I love it!

The piece of mind that my house is getting clean is well worth the money spent. We had to get a vacuum anyways and with the Black Friday deal we only paid $100 more than any other vacuums. I’ve never been so happy about housework in my life. Shhh, don’t tell Hubby. :)

I am SO incredibly jealous. I told my sister I need a new vacuum and she laughed at me. I was specifically pointing to this one in the Target ad on Thanksgiving, too. Glad you like it!

Hehe. I LOVE our Dyson! I vacuum every second day and we still get almost a full barrel every time. We do have an indoor dog and two very young children though. With a family history of asthma and our children spending a lot of time on the floor, I think the piece of mind is well worth the extra cost!
