I have to admit. I am a bit of a hanger snob. When I see a closet shoved full of wire hangers it gives me the creeps. I really want my closet to be lined with wooden hangers but for now I settle for plain white plastic tube hangers. They are inexpensive, they match, and they don’t give my clothes weird bumps in the shoulder.
When I married my husband he came with some wire hangers. (I shutter at the thought) Essentially from day one of our marriage every time I washed a shirt it would get hung on a new hanger. After 5 years he realized that what was left on wire hangers really could be donated because he hadn’t worn it in that long.
The only wire hangers that were left and really bugging me were the pant hangers from the dry cleaners. I tolerated them for some time because after all the cardboard had just enough stick to keep those pants from sliding off.
I have wanted to try the Huggable Hangers for quite some time so the curiosity finally got the better of me and I bought a couple of packs at Target. I was really skeptical about the velvety material covering the hangers. It helps to keep things from sliding off the hanger but I was concerned about this black stuff coming off the hanger. Especially on light colored pants.
Well I bought these hangers back in June so I would have to say so far so good! I have started using them for my pants too. No signs of wear on the hangers and I am completely satisfied. I still can’t decide, do I make my closet a Huggable Hanger closet, or do I work my way up to the wood? Maybe it’s to test them out on my shirts as well.

I wanted the huggable hangers, but I have A TON of clothes and at that price, whew!
Bed Bath and Beyond carries the exact same hanger *called slimline hangers* and a box of 50 is 39.99. I usually use a 10 off 30 coupon and get them for 30 dollars. I have about 4 boxes in my closet, they take up less space than regular hangers.
Hi, I tried the huggable hangers they are okay, but I have found that they tend to shape my shirts flat, which is good for storage but bad for my shirts. Like everyone I am 3 dimension and most of the hangers I find have no shape. I would rather than support my clothes these just hang them.
Has any tried the hangers from Mainetti? They have a website which sells all sorts of different styles and finishes; I use the wooden jacket hangers. Not only do they look great they also keep my suits looking great.
They have all sorts of different colours and finishes.
Have a look; I am sure they will ship anywhere. http://www.mainetti-retail.com
An even better solution are the very cool Ditto Ecological Hangers! Made from 100% recycled paper, they fit 100% more clothing in the same amount of space! They’re perfect for small closets, traveling and, unlike flocked hangers, are recyclable anywhere.
Our Ditto 10-Packs are now available on Amazon. Just type in “Ditto Hangers”!
I have both wooden and flocked hangers. I like the flocked hangers for camisoles, dressy t-shirts and my hubby’s work shirts. They are nice and slim and work well. The woodens are nice for sweaters and the like. They just take up more space.
love these hangers! they keep the most slippery and delicate of shirts hanging!
I asked for the huggable hangers last year for Christmas. My mom got me a huge box of them. I love them!! I want to ask for more this year! Almost everything in my closet is hanging on them. Those things that aren’t just bug me! The closet looks so neat and tidy just by using these hangers. One of my very first blog posts was all about them.

Well, good I’m glad I’m not the only one who asks for organizing products for Christmas! I’ve gotten THAT look followed by a really? when asking for stuff like that. It feels so good to get things all nice and orderly though!
Yep, I’m a hanger snob too. So far, I have all my tops hanging on white plastic hangers (tube type) and all my pants hanging on black ones. I use light blue for sweat and work-out pants. We don’t have dressers so everything gets hung up. I’m in the process of switching all the hangers out on my husband’s side of the closet too. He finally “gets” it.
Top rack, blouses in order of sleeve length and color then sweaters in order of color. Bottom rack, t-shirts in color order and: cami’s, tanks, short sleeved then long sleeved t’s. My pants have part of hubster’s side of the closet since I have more clothes than he does. Dresses and skirts hang at the end of our walk -in closet.
I have my clothes in order by size as well. I try to keep them in order by color but I don’t get too particular about that as long as the clothes get in there! I would like to get rid of our dressers and move all the clothes in the closet and create a sitting area in the master. We’ll get there eventually!
Thanks for the review. I have not tried flocked hangers myself but have seen them at Sam’s Club for a deal (item #851591). A 50 piece set (includes 24 Universal Flocked Cascade Hangers, 10 Shirt and Flocked Blouse Hangers, 12 Pants and Skirt Clips and 4 Shoulder Pads) is only $18.87 .
I too am a hanger snob. My all time favorite hanger is a wooden hanger. I purchase the house brand hanger from the National Hanger Company. It is flat so it does not take too much space. I love the notched shoulders and the rubber insert so items don’t fall off. The two drawbacks are 1) they are sold in lots of 100 2) there are two different hangers for tops & suits. I love the quality and functionality of the hanger. I also love how it makes any closet look like a high-end department store showroom. It kills me that folks will spend good money on their clothing and leave them on wire hangers. Ouch!
I’ll have to check those hangers out, maybe I will ask for them for Christmas like Marci mentioned in her comment!
I hate wire hangers, probably because of Joan Crawford, and especially hate the wire hangers from the cleaners with the paper on them!! UGH!! We use the plastic hangers you can guy at Wal-Mart. I try to buy boy colors for Hubby and girly colors for me and the kids clothes are still small enough I can use the baby plastic hangers for them. DEATH BE TO WIRE HANGERS!!!
