Have you ever come face to face with a hard to organize spot and thought to yourself,  “If I can only find a little container that size.” Well, the answer might be right in your recycling bin. Here are 5 helpful containers that people toss on a daily basis:

Peanut Butter Jars (Mayonnaise, too) – Peanut butter jars come in different sizes shapes and lid colors. These plastic containers are great for storing small toys, craft supplies or even dry goods in your pantry.

Cereal BoxesCereal boxes can be just sturdy enough for organizing office supplies. You can let your creativity soar by decorating the outside of the box with scrapbook paper or wallpaper scraps.

Baby Food Jars - If your still in the baby phase don’t throw out those glass jars. Baby food jars can be used in the garage for sorting nuts and bolts and all of those other little bits & pieces that seem to accumulate out there. You can attach them to a wall or the bottom of a shelf for easy access.

Toilet Paper RollCurb the cord clutter by winding up the cord and stuffing it in a toilet paper roll. The cord will be kept nice and organized and the roll is perfect for writing on to label what the cord goes to.

Check Boxes – Check boxes can make wonderful drawer dividers and they are also the perfect size for coupons.

What other storage options can you think of that might come from the recycling bin?

Any clever ideas for storing oodles of hair supplies for little girls, i.e. bows, barrettes, ribbons, etc.?

How do you get them so clean and shiny? Should I put them in the dishwasher? I love the red tops, very fancy! We can’t have PB in the house (allergy), but I always have mayo jars and other plastic ones around.

The containers actually come pretty clean with soap, water and a little elbow grease ;)

I love the ideas, Tanna! I just did a post on reusing empty cereal boxes and turning them into desk organizers (holding papers and such).

Thanks for sharing these great tips and ideas. I look forward to reading more.

The red of the Jiff lids really make the containers look fun! I’m a big yogurt container saver- I love having the snap on lids to keep my little odds and ends in place.
