No Flipping… Just Flopping

When it comes to clothing we keep things pretty simple around here.

We only buy what we need and we don’t have to have our shoes matching every outfit in that “just so” way. I mean they match but If I’m dressing my daughter in pink I don’t have to go out and get pink shoes. She wears her black Crocs all summer long and loves them.

As you can see from the picture above, my youngest son has his favorite pair of flip-flops. I don’t let him wear them out in public anymore but they are still his first pick when he is playing outside. They might not flip anymore but they still go flop and it looks like he will keep wearing them until they can’t do that either.

Do you or your kids have a favorite piece of clothing or pair of shoes you have worn until they have literally fallen apart?

I have all boys, so no matchy-matchy stuff with shoes here!
My 5 yo has a pair of Lands’ End sneakers that he is going to really have a hard time parting with! They have the bungee cord laces, so easy for him to pull on, and no stopping to retie. Sadly they have seen better days, and are just about too small now.

I have a pair of Merril sandals… I think I’m on my third pair of the EXACT same shoe. I absolutely love them. They have great support and go with just about anything. I wear out or ruin one pair and replace them with a cloned pair! Can’t live without ‘em! ~J

My son will only wear Crocs. He has a few different pairs, but he will go through stages where he INSISTS on wearing only a certain color – regardless of whether they match or not. He’s not quite 3 – I don’t care if they match or not. I’m just happy he can put them on himself!

We get the kids a new pair of Crocs before the summer every year. My two youngest have really wide feet and the Crocs always work best for them. My daughter’s pair this year looked like mary jane’s. I love them because they are the closest to anything resembling a dress shoe that her foot has been able to fit in. :) My son’s pair from last year still fit until they shrunk in the sun. :(

Ugh, not me or my kids but my hubby insists on keeping pants/shirts w/HOLES not little nicks mind you but HOLES!! “They’re comfy,” he insists, and I don’t put up too much fuss as long as he only wears them at home. He has let a few go in the last few months (one shirt he’d had since before we were engaged almost nine years ago) so that’s something. ;)

LOL, no holes here but my grandmother has that problem with my grandfather. He likes his shirts broken in to the point where he has holes and she is always trying to get rid of them. Hubby’s old shirts go to the gym with him until it is officially time to retire them to the trash.

My husband will wear a pair of shoes until they fall to pieces. I’m actually thankful for this as he wears a size 14 shoe and when we do find a pair of shoes that fits him comfortable (he’s on his feet A LOT) they can get pretty pricey. We’ve probably bought 4 pair of shoes for him in the 5 years that we’ve been together. That includes work shoes and casual shoes. He’s discovered that he likes crocks (the walmart brand) and can now wear his casual shoes a bit less which might make them last longer. YAY!
