Play-Doh, The Summer Sanity Saver

This summer I have been looking for activities that will keep all three of my children occupied and I especially love it when that activity also helps keep the volume down! My kids are anything but quite for the most part of the day but there comes a time when I just want everyone to settle down. An added bonus would be for them to play well together so Mommy can have a few minutes to herself.

With children ages 2-8 it is challenging at times to find something they can all play together in their own unique way but still be close enough not to get on each others nerves. Tricky right!

play doh.jpgOne of those timeless toys that can give me a few minutes of sanity is Play-Doh! My kids get so excited over Play-Doh! The younger two more so than the older one but he enjoyed himself very much trying out the Spaghetti Factory for the Momfluence Summer Guide. He even put on a fake Italian accent and really got into the character. It was so fun seeing what they came up with next.

I got out the plastic silverware and plates so they could create their own meals and before I knew it they were playing restaurant. My daughter loves helping her Dad in the kitchen so I knew this would be a hit for her. I like the sets like the Play-Doh Spaghetti Factory because it helps give a prompt for imaginative play. My oldest son would have gotten bored after 2 minutes of making snakes or guns or whatever because trying to figure out what to make just isn’t his thing. But he loved roll playing as an Italian chef!

Now if Hasbro would come out with some really cool storage options for these bulky Play-Doh sets we would be all good. For now a plastic bin will do.

Yes! We just did this today, actually. My girls LOVE Play-Doh and will play for a good 45-60 minutes quietly at the table. My youngest is only 21mo, but she thankfully doesn’t eat it, so she gets to sit in her booster seat and play too.
