Kitchen Cleanup

I know the Spring Cleaning Party has moved on to the bathrooms but I just finished polishing off my kitchen. Once again, like my living room, I just love how everything sparkles when it is all done! I just have to say that since this whole Spring Cleaning thing falls around the same time as Mother’s Day I know what I will be asking for next year ;) I wonder how much it would cost to have someone else come in and do a deep clean? I could keep up with the rest just once a year it needs a good scrub down.

Kitchen Cleanup Before

Here is my kitchen before, when we (the kids and I) come in the house we usually dump everything on the island grab a snack and then deal with it. Some things get left there longer than they should. :)

Here are Simple Mom’s reflection questions for the kitchen….

What do you love about your kitchen? What one thing do you most want to change?

I love that we have an island (even though it gets cluttered sometimes) and a large pantry. If I could change something in my kitchen it would be the shelves in the pantry. We have wire shelving and would like to replace it all with wood. I would also like to have more items in baskets and containers with pretty labels. I know where everything is, but it would look so much prettier!

What are some things in your kitchen that you’re getting rid of?

I didn’t get rid of anything in the kitchen. When we were trying to sell our house to downsize we got rid of everything we don’t use. It is pretty streamlined now.

The part I dreaded most was cleaning the oven! Guess what, it end up being one of the easiest parts. I tried Simple Mom’s recipe for a homemade oven cleaner and it was amazing! The crud just slid right off. How cool is that! Unfortunately those pictures didn’t turn out very well, turns out my oven is a little camera shy but I will give you the recipe for the oven cleaner. You must try it!

• 3/4 cup baking soda
• 1/4 cup salt
• 1/4 cup water
Mix into a paste and spread over dampened area. Let it sit overnight, then scrape off with a
scraper and rinse clean.

For more great cleaning recipes make sure you check out Simple Mom’s E-book. Ok, now for the after picture……

Kitchen Cleanup After

Hmmm, after looking at the before and after it looks pretty much the same. I worked my bum off though and it took a long time! Every nook, cranny and drawer is clean in here now!

What is the hanging thing on your door? I love the colors. Is it a calender?
