I’ve come across some amazing play kitchens lately and it really makes me want to lose the big hunk of plastic we have in the playroom and make our own. I’m suddenly becoming more aware of all the plastic junking up our playroom so I’m going to start searching and sharing what I find on alternative quality products that your kids would love.
I’m all about pretend play whether it is the kitchen or dress up. Girls and Boys! Our kids mimic us and what you will find is that if your kids see you putting things away when you are done they will naturally mimic this action. Walk them through the steps of what you do and emphasize the clean up part. They will think it’s fun and want to join in. (I wish this worked 100% of the time with all of their toys though.) By providing your children with toys that allows for this “grown up” play it will help instill some early organizational skills.
Now for your viewing pleasure…

If you have a DIY play kitchen like those above please share in the comments below! I would love to see them. I wonder what the chances are that Hubby will let me sell the hunk of plastic in the yard sale and help me make one of these.

These are gorgeous… We are in the process of repurposing an old kid armoire into a play kitchen based on a blog we saw… The nice thing is there will be storage and it fits into our homeschool classroom perfectly..
These are great – very creative use of materials. The only drawback I can see is that, unlike the plastic ones, these beauties would never last outside… the only place there is room for such an item at our house!
Found your website through Oraganising Your Way and I love the play kitchens. I built one from cardboard using a pattern from fortytworoads. I have photos on my blog http://fionacupcake.blogspot.com/search/label/cardboard. It is 4 months old now and dispite LOTS of baking its still looking good…maybe needs a wee touch up!
take a look at these, i think they are beautiful.

My girls don’t have a DIY kitchen. But, they do have a cute little retro pink kitchen we bought from Costco. And they love it.
Wow, I love all of them!
