The week between Christmas and New Year’s has been the perfect time for getting things back in order around here.
Hubby’s having the church men’s group meet at our house tonight for a chili cook-off, so this week has been dedicated to cleaning up! The toys have finally made it out of the living room and it’s slowly getting back to order.

It’s time to tackle the playroom next. This is the current state it is in. Not too bad but some new toys need to find some homes pronto.

Santa brought me a monitor to go with my MacBook this year and I am ever so grateful! I have been rearranging my desk to see what setup will work best for me. Hubby is going to build a monitor stand so I can slide the MacBook right in under it (and get rid of the box it’s sitting on). My desk is going to be in tip top shape to get my end of year accounting done.
While tackling my desk I gave the office closet some much needed attention too. My organizing supplies are all in order and I actually cleared up some shelf space.
My oldest son and I (cold blooded creatures) are always snuggling up with blankets so at any given time there might be 3 or 4 loose blankets lying about. I gathered them all up to be washed and put away.
The downstairs is swept and vacuumed and now it’s time to dust and tackle a bathroom or two.I love this quote from Rita Emmet. “God created company so that the house gets cleaned.” Being organized helps with the cleaning but it doesn’t do it for me. Cleaning is certainly my least favorite thing to do. Having company over is the best motivator for me to get things sparkling again.
I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s and I’ll see you back here on the 1st!

I always give the advice to clients to have a party in order to get the house clean and tidy. Great advice and love the quote as well! Melissa
Yeah for someone who cleans like crazy for company! My girls use to hate company because I went crazy cleaning! Oh to be a neat freak! I really love a clean house….just time permits half way! Have a great year.
I love the quote, so true!! :)
