On any given wall in our house we might have up to 6 light switches. I guess there could have been a better way of doing this when we built our house but we didn’t realize how many switches we would actually have. We may have gone a liiiiittle over board on the lighting.
Right by our front door we have a set of four and a set of two switches. This one is in our kitchen. I am always flipping the wrong switches! Hubby has them memorized but for some reason I have not been so lucky. I need a visual reminder. I’m like the kids I just start trying them all until I get the result I am looking for.
So, I took out my trusty labeler and put an end to the switch flipping. Now I know exactly what switch I need and I can tell if an outside light has been inadvertently turned on. When guests com over I no longer get that quizzical look of “Which one do I turn on?” Works for me!

That is something I have never thought to do! We have a bank of 4 in the family room. After living here almost 3 years, I still have no idea what two of them operate! At one point in time I had a green circle sticker above the main one (mostly for my MIL/sitter). I am constantly confusing the over-sink light switch and garbage disposal switch in my kitchen. It looks like there is more love for labeling! Thanks for sharing!
I did this in my last house (lots of light switches) and LOVED it. So did company!
Blessings, Whitney
This would be great for hubby who is always flipping switches!
I am a compulsive labeler. Open any cupboard in my house and see shelves and drawers with labels telling you where to put things.
The only labels that DON’T annoy my Spouse are the ones I put in the fuse box. How nice to cut the power to a single room for electrical work w/o having to shout back, “Is it off? How about now?”
