Potting Bench

What a lovely idea featured in the June issue of Country Home magazine! Here are the directions to make your own potting bench using an unfinished farm table and chain link fence:

1. Assemble the table. Prime and then paint it and the galvanized gate.

2. Match the center of the gate to the tabletop; mark the center of each gate post 1 1/2 inches from the table’s back edge. Using a 1 3/8-inch Forstner bit, drill holes the depth of the bit. Place posts in holes.

3. Attach four evenly spaced 1 1/4-inch pipe clamps to the gate’s bottom bar; screw clamps to the tabletop. On the gate front, hammer large staples around the chain link and into the tabletop.

4. Hang tools from the gate using wire or S-hooks.

It would look very beautiful with ribbons and crafty goodies here and there. Great idea Kristin!

Oh my! That is adorable – it almost makes me want to take up gardening! I think it would be great to take that concept into a craft room too, though (more my style)!
