Do You Fight With The Aluminum Foil?

I know I am not the only one, my aunt received this email and sent it to my grandmother who of course passed it on to me. None of us knew. So I am wondering if you knew….

Here is the email.

I’ve been using aluminum foil for more years than I care to remember. Great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, “Press here to lock end”. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can’t count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

I checked my boxes and the aluminum foil and the saran wrap had the tabs. The wax and parchment papers did not. So, let me hear it, did you know about these great little locking tabs?

I just discovered your site and love it! I’m trying to get organized and blogs like yours are a tremendous inspiration. I also told everyone in my family about the tabs on the aluminum foil and none of knew. Thanks!

I ran to my kitchen to look. Sure enough! I showed my 80 year old mother. She had never heard, seen, or looked at the end of the rolls! How many combined years of struggling to keep the rolls in the boxes have we had? This is like the coolest discovery. Why did we not know this?!! I sure hope that little tab works!

Thanks for stopping by ladies! Isn’t it funny, the little things that get us excited. Little tabs on the end of the foil box, who knew?!

Thanks for this tip!! Never knew this either. I guess we are all so overloaded with “words all over boxes” that we tend to not read them, and anyway, who needs to read how to use a box of foil or plastic wrap?? Well…. it turns out that we ALL should have! heehee
