Potty Training

by Tanna Clark

The past week has been a little crazy at my house, but I have some good news to share! Tuesday morning my youngest son woke up and said he was a big boy and wanted to wear underwear!!! (I wish potty training was really that easy) We have really only been going through the whole process for a couple of months, we officially went to pull-ups in October.

I have tried all the tricks and tips I could think of to get this child to go potty, bribery and all. He is quite independent and stubborn. He could care less if he was sitting in soiled pants, he would go about his business and not think twice.

My oldest son was in daycare when he was potty training so they essentially did all of the hard work for me. I was starting to worry that I may be failing my child by not potty training him “correctly”. Luckily for me Elmo knows exactly what to say to get a child to go potty. :) Monday my son chose to watch Elmo’s Potty Time, which he has watched a million times before, and I guess something just finally clicked.

As of Tuesday my big boy has been in underwear every day. He turned 3 on Saturday. In the end it just had to be in his own time. Moms everywhere are stressing in their own way about the potty training challenge and sometimes it feels like it will never happen. So for those moms I have this quote to share…

“When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.” Ben Franklin

As for me and my house…. 1 more to go and then no more diapers!!!!

Oh gosh my little guy just turned 2 and I’m just entering this stage. Uggg. So not my favorite. I’m definitely checking out that video because my son loves Elmo. Thanks for the tip!

Hi Tanna….again!

We have so much in common. We are potty training too. Tana(Santana, our youngest) is doing well. she no longer uses the potty chair unless we go camping/deer hunting, but then her big sis, Emma(5) uses it then too!

She still wears pullups to MDO which is fine for me. I used to work in the daycare industry for 15 years as an owner and remember when pullups came out…..LOVED THEM! I still used cloth and rubber pants on my own children but when it came to other people’s children the pull ups were so wonderful!

I love it the days it clicks for the kiddos. It’s so refreshing to see the confidence they exhibit!

Like you, this is our last batch of disposables so I am so excited! It’s rather costly compared to when I used cloth diapers and panties with my first three, to be sure!
