My Mom buys my kids an ornament every year. We also buy try to find an ornament from where ever we vacationed that year. This year is an apple from NYC.

The plan is when the kids leave home, they will take their ornaments with them. My oldest is 14 so that's not too many more years. My Mom asks me every year if I mind having the tree covered with kid ornaments. I love it. When the both leave home, we'll have plenty of time to do an adult tree.

www.clutterpundit.com

The kid ornaments are totally taking over. We even talked about doing two trees, one for the grown ups and one for the kids. Once we downsize though we won't be able to do that. Maybe we will alternate years.

Now it seems as though our tree is only decorated on the top half. The little ones pull the ornaments off and we put them back on higher. :)
